Must Have!

We've just got home from Washington DC. It was a very tiring trip but definitely a wonderful one. What I enjoyed the most was the long road trip. Being able to see places with beautiful views and scenery was all worth the tiring journey. But there's one thing I realized about traveling, I must have a binocular! Seriously, I really want to ask good husband to purchase one at nikonhunting.com, lol! Their Nikon Monarch and Trailblazer Binoculars are fabulous! Its precision optics, great ruggedness, and amazing value is truly not a NO! NO!

Not just that, Nikon is currently giving out gift cards for Nikon Pro Gear. Meaning, when you purchase any of the products, you'll get another one in no additional cost! Up to $50 value yours for free! This promo is only until December 31, 2008...I still have time to purchase one, lol! How about you? Check out the site now for more details about the gears and the promo!

Does it look amazing? this work of art building in PIGEON FORGE, TN. Wonder works is what this tourist attraction name seems so real but actually this is only a design of the building. Everything are up side down from outside to inside. With the special sound effect as if the building is really collapsing and turn to pieces. If you have a plan to travel to Tennessee, this is the place you won't never gonna miss! you have to come by here and see all the spectacular wonders of Tennessee. We plan to come back here next year on the summer time more fun and adventure! Can't wait anymore.

weight loss pill i need..

I really want to loss weight! Though I may not be as slim as before, but at least shed off some pounds. I need to exercise and control my diet. I also consider taking diet pills. But first I must do some research to make sure i'll get the best one. I think alli weight loss pill is great. It is a non-prescription, FDA approved diet pill very similar to the famous Xenical. It reduces the body's amount for fat absorption. Along with a weight lose program, Alli is sure to give you the much wanted body and fitness all of us deserve!

All about DC trip!

This week i am going to post all about our trip here in Washington, honestly not in the world i am thinking of going here! but circumstances permitted us to come so might as well take our vacation here right now. We will be staying here for 5days. Since we decided to drive all the way here, our trip was really fun. We've been by Knoxville Tenn., one of the biggest cities in Tennessee and also the close by attractions like, Pigeon Forge and Gutenberg. Then we've been by in Virginia and we stop a hotel there for a night rest, then drove again all the way to our destination, then Largo Maryland where our hotel is. On the roads you will really amazed of the beautiful scenic views with all the colorful trees and mountains. The ENDLESS CAVERNS is what breath taking i took some videos of it! haha for souvenir! Ok that's all for now... will keep updated here.

We're' here in DC now...

After long drive coming here in Washington thank Jah we arrived sound and safe. I'm so proud to our son because he was doing so well along the way, he didn't complain or what so ever not after last 20minutes before we went to the hotels. I'm glad also that despite of a very long drive of 12hours ( but we decided to take a rest and just took 6hours and continue the next day), I didn't feel bad at all other than my butt numb haha. Fortunate I'm not the type of getting a motion sickness when travelling. I loved to travel i guess that's the reason. I get so excited to go to other place and i just enjoy my self looking the scenery's! That's what i did, lots of scenic views i took! I will still taking more photos in the rest of our stay here at DC!!

My sister complains about her astigmatism. She told me that she already went to the ophthalmologist for check-up. She also bought a new pair of eyeglasses already but she still complains, lol! Well I can't blame her, we really need protection for our eyes. Specially for people like us who are constantly in front of the computer screen. I really think I should get one for myself soon. I'm doing a search now for the best eyeglasses in the market. Best means great quality, lowest price and yet fashionable.

And I found Zenni Optical. ZenniOptical.com sells stylish prescription eyeglasses online with prices that starts from $8! Here you will find everything you need. Complete single vision eyeglasses, UV protection, bifocal lens, tinted, plus so much more!

According to chicagotribune.com, eyeglasses are not just for accessories. They are also part of medical products. Did you know that Americans spend $28.7 billion for vision products every year! And the fact is, they are overpaying for it. But with Zenni, you are guaranteed, there is no overpay. So if like me, you are also in need of eyeglasses, visit zenni optical now and get one that suits you best!

Well anyway, i asked my husband to go to my favorite Chinese restaurant since that's what i am craving for lunch. I had fun at Chef Wang's and i was stuffed too! the place is really fabulous, they have the "best of China's fine cuisine with over 200 items, and also sprinkled with the best of western cooking. I loved their food because everything are savory, detectable and healthy, plus their concepts with the dishes are so modern. As well the ambiance is like you are in a grand palace in Chinese temple but the price is very reasonable. Definitely worth dining for, no wonder the place is always pack! so if you are in this area try the restaurant you will definitely like it!

Sore

I am so sore right now because of what we did yesterday we went out hiking at old stone fort a 20 minutes drive historical park here in our place. The place was so huge and wide it was the exact place of Indians settlers way long time ago. Although it was fun to hike and see all those remains of indian people they have the museums that archeologist found fossils but surely it was tiring. It is 3miles by foot traffic but we only cut across after a mile otherwise i can't walk today!!! No wonder no strollers recommended because the path ways are rocky and woody but still we brought son's stroller otherwise we couldn't make it so far! Well today i felt so sore in my legs and hips! guess getting old and apparently I'm not use of a lot of walking anymore compare when way back in the Philippines... ouch!!!

Dream Vacation

I'm always looking forward to have a vacation with my family and loved ones. In this very busy life, it would be great if ones in a while we are able to unwind and relax. We plan to go to Florida this November and I'm so excited about it. But to be honest, I also want to go to Alabama. We've been there but it's just a drive thru along the city streets. How I wish we can have a great vacation at the beautiful gulf coast of Alabama. I can't help myself not to be excited specially when I saw these amazing vacation rentals available in the area.

I'm doing a search at homeaway.com, and find out that vacation rentals are so much better than staying in a hotel. More amenities, more rooms, you'll have your privacy plus you will save 50-80% of your money than staying in a hotel, you can even bring your pets! Fort Morgan beach rentals is one of the best destination you can have. With beautiful beach houses along the gulf shores. I also found this beautiful beachfront condo available at Orange beach beach rentals. Oh I love to be here!!!

How about you? Do you plan to have a vacation? Click the links now and take the first step towards your dream vacation!

Oldest Surviving Printed Book

According to BBC News, the British Library is now home to what is believed to be the oldest surviving printed book in the world. It reports that A Buddhist text called The Diamond Sutra bears the date 868 C.E. and was found in 1907 in a cave in Dunhuang, China. “It consists of a scroll of grey paper printed with Chinese characters, wrapped around a wooden pole,” says the report. The book and other items found with it are thought to have been “part of a library which was walled up in the cave around the year 1000AD.” The scroll predates the introduction of movable type into Europe by hundreds of years, but as the BBC report notes, “paper making and printing were already well established in China at the time.”

Looking for moth traps?

Moth is like a small butterfly and they always fly around lights but you know where they love to stay and lay their eggs? Well, moth infestation we really need to worry about, because the most common hide away of them is in the clothes and pantry. This is a problem to all of us especially pantry moth will lay their eggs close to the food surface like dry goods. So moth traps are a cost effective homeowner solution for preventing moths in the pantry! Using traps can reduce food waste and moth infestation! I really hate moth good thing we don't have!

World's Steepest Incline

The world's steepest incline is more than 100 year old Incline Railroad to the top of Lookout Mountain. With a 75 degree incline and almost a mile of track, this is the steepest railway in the world. As you riding on the train going to the peak of the mountain you find yourself almost falling on other people because of the steep incline. Yet it is really fun to load onto the train going to the top! On the top you can view six states from the 3-story observation platform around Tennessee. The view from lookout mountain was spectacular and you will really have fun riding up and down. Make sure to bring sweater because the ride up is chilly!

Going to Florida!!

Husband and I are planning for a Florida vacation this coming November. Actually, we've been planning for this a year ago but because of circumstances, it was always postponed. My husband's relatives are in Florida, it will be a wonderful reunion for all of us. It will also be their first time to see our son. But to be honest, do you know what excites me when I think about our trip? No other than my very first Disney Adventure tour!!! I'm so excited for myself and for my baby. Going to Disneyland is my childhood dream, lol!

That is why as early as now, we are carefully planning about this trip. We're considering if we can avail a Disney rentals, one of the affordable Florida Rentals you can find. I really think renting a vacation rental is better than staying in a hotel. There will be more rooms, more amenities, you can save more money and you can even bring your pets if you have! VRBO.com helps you to search for the best vacation rentals in any location you want. In our case, it will be Florida so I am looking for a vacation rental near Disney.

If you're planning to avail one too, visit the links now for more info.

Rare Orchid Saved From Extinction

For 50 years the only lady’s-slipper orchid (Cypripedium calceolus) growing wild in Britain was kept under 24-hour guard to prevent its extinction. The beautiful maroon-and-yellow orchid was so highly prized by the Victorians and succeeding generations that by the 1950’s, it had been "picked to death," and just one plant remained. Botanists tried to produce seedlings from this North Yorkshire plant, but its infrequent flowering made natural pollination impossible. However, in the early 1990’s, scientists at Kew Gardens, London, discovered a method called micropropagation, which enabled them to cultivate new plants from seeds obtained by hand-pollinating the flowers. These plants were then transferred to their natural limestone habitats, with the result that between 200 and 300 lady’s-slipper orchids are now growing in the north of England. One site is on view to the public, but the rest remain in secret locations to ensure their protection, reports The Independent of London, as "scientists continue to work on making them hardy enough to cope with pests and fungi."

Honey—A Sweet Healer

SOME medical researchers are excited about the potent antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties of honey. The Globe and Mail newspaper of Canada reports: "Unlike the arsenal of sophisticated antibiotics that have hit a wall against antibiotic-resistant superbugs, honey is able to do battle with at least some of them when it comes to infected wounds."

What is in honey that gives it the ability to affect healing? The answer involves the worker bee that gathers nectar from flowers. The bee’s saliva contains glucose-oxidase, a key enzyme that breaks down the glucose in the nectar. A by-product of this breakdown is hydrogen peroxide, which is traditionally used to clean and disinfect wounds. Normally, the effect of hydrogen peroxide when placed on a wound is short-lived; but with honey, the effect is different. "Once on a wound, the honey is somewhat diluted by the body’s fluids, and this decreases the natural acidity of honey," says the Globe report. The enzyme goes into action in this less acidic environment. The breakdown of the sugar in honey is slow and constant. This process slowly releases hydrogen peroxide in amounts big enough to kill local bacteria while not adversely affecting surrounding healthy tissue.

Honey has several characteristics that can affect wound healing, according to the Globe. "A thin layer of honey provides a moist environment that protects the skin and prevents a hard scab from forming. Honey stimulates the growth and formation of new blood capillaries and triggers the cells that produce new skin to grow." In addition, anti-oxidants in the honey possess an anti-inflammatory action that helps "reduce swelling, improve circulation and keep the wound from ‘weeping.’"

"Honey isn’t for everybody, however," cautions the report. It is estimated that botulism spores are present in up to 5 percent of honey. Such agencies as Health Canada’s Botulism Reference Service as well as pediatric societies advise against giving honey to children under one year of age because "infants have not yet developed sufficient intestinal microflora to protect them from the bacterium."

The Impressive Tule Tree

~Photo courtesy of Jon Von Neumann~

The tallest tree in the world are the redwoods of California, reaching heights of 360 feet or more. However, the Mexican cypress, a relative of the sequoia, holds the record for circumference. The most famous specimen of this tree is located eight miles east of the city of Oaxaca, Mexico, in the town of Santa Maria del Tule. It is known as the Tule tree. Its base measures an impressive 150 feet. To give you an idea of its size, it would take at least 30 people standing with arms outstretched to encircle the buttressed trunk, and over 500 could find refuge in its shade!

Then Tule tree is estimated to be over 2,000 years old. When it was pruned in 1996, ten tons of deadwood was removed. Locals call the tree El Gigante (the Giant). In Mexico this species is known as the ahuehuete, which in the Nahuatl language means "old one of water," as it generally grows by water or in swampy places.

Chewing Gum

From early times people have found enjoyment in chewing gum. The ancient Greeks chew the resin of the mastic tree. The Aztecs chewed tzictli, or chicle, from the sapodilla tree. And the Native Americans of New England taught colonist to chew the resin of the spruce tree. In fact, in the early 1800's, lumps of spruce resin came to be the first commercial chewing gum marketed in the United States. Later, chewing sweetened paraffin wax became popular.

It is said that modern chewing gum had its beginning in the later half of the 19th century. During Mexican ex-president Santa Anna's exile in the U.S, he was noticed chewing pieces of chicle that he had brought with him from Mexico. An American inventor realized its potential if sweetened and flavored, and he imported chicle to the U.S to make chewing gum.

Why is chewing gum so popular? Many chew gum to freshen their breath and clean their teeth when brushing is not possible after meals and snacks. Others find that chewing gum is relaxing and an aid to concentration. In fact, because chewing gum has been recognized to reduced tension and contribute to alertness, the U.S armed forces supplied chewing gum to the troops in the 1st and 2nd world wars and they still do it until now. Indeed, chewing gums is a worldwide favorite...always and forever.
