Natural Disasters of 2010

According to a leading insurance company recorded 950 natural catastrophes worldwide in 2010, exceeding the last decade's average of 785 events per year. The five worst disasters were earthquakes in Chile, China and Haiti. Floods that inundated Pakistan and a heat wave in Russia, where tens of thousands died from the effects of heat and the air pollution. Over northern Europe, ash from an Icelandic volcano caused little direct damage but nearly caused in excess of $2 billion (U.S) of damage. Total economic losses, including losses not covered by insurance, says The Telegraph of London, rose to $130 billion from last years $50 billion.

on nursing job

My cousin asked me the other day if it's possible to search for job postings here in America. Her friend recently passed to be a registered nurse and now looking for employers and possible jobs that would suit her skills and capabilities. I told her there are websites that allows one to post their resume especially those related in the medical field. Such like Medical & Clinical Laboratory Technologist Jobs, clinical instructors, health therapist, nursing aids, and so forth. I hope the link I gave her can help. I heard there are so many nurses in my country now and getting a post is quite hard to do already. Hope she finds her luck here in the U.S

Airbags continue to improve car safety

The cost of your auto insurance is to a large extent determined by the car you drive, and partially by the safety features present in the car you drive. Air bags have become a stand feature on cars since 1999, and there is little doubt that they do save lives and reduce the seriousness of crash injuries.

That’s why insurers love cars with good air bags. Air bags can significantly reduce the amount insurers have to pay for bodily injury claims. So, the more effective the air bags and other safety features on your car, the more chance you have of attracting a better premium.
Of course, what’s much more important is that air bags save lives, and technology is continually advancing to make air bags safer for the driver and all passengers. Inflatable seat-belts have also been developed, which aim to prevent back-seat injuries. Another innovation is an airbag that deploys for the centre console to stop passengers form colliding with each other.

There are many other ideas being tested, and hopefully some of these will result in safer vehicles. There has been a significant reduction in air bag related injuries since air bags first came on the market, according to the NHTSA, and let’s hope that trend continues.

The benefits of driving a safe car are clear – a cheaper Burlington insurance rate is probably the least of them.

On board a private jet!

Sounds so extravagant and expensive right? But come to think of it, traveling on board a private plane can save you more if it's a family trip or business. I have no idea it's possible though until my in-laws brought out the topic. You see, they mentioned before that whenever the family decides to go somewhere, like FL or NY, might as well charter a private jet. They said it would be more reasonable and the flight less hassle. Especially for dad, he can't have a stressful flight and long waiting at airports because of his health. Anyway, how is this possible though? PlaneClear is a company that allows you to have a clear and trusted access to aircraft companies. By becoming a member, they will help you with this investment, to ensure you the safety, comfort, and peace of mind while traveling for your business or family getaways.

What's nice about them is that you can keep in touch directly to the aviation companies and aircraft operators, clear and simple. Along with their trusted travel partners as well, providing travel management at different places around the world. If it does sound appealing to you, just visit their website to find out more. They have flexible membership programs that shows clear and real market pricing. Well on board a private jet, that would be a happy trip I must say!

Accidentally accident!

I felt bad to my friend because just recently she got wreck her new car accidentally big time! Good thing she didn't get hurt or the passenger behind. It was a bad history for her that until now she's in the process of taking things in. It' s hard to move on knowing how damaged she gave to the vehicle. But her husband is so supportive always has positive outlook about the situation he said it's gonna be alright and the car will gonna get fix one way or another. It was already estimated how much the cost of fixing it by using the auto body estimating software they know right then exactly. When it comes to collisions that software is coming in handy. You know the price from start to finished! By the way, the software is great way for auto repair business. Check it out if you are planning to!

PF # 88: PINK PALACE MUSEUM

~ the front view~
~ back view~
~ and yours truly~
This tourist destination is in Memphis Tennessee, named it the Pink Palace Museum. Literally the structure of the building is pink because of the pink marble walls from front to back! Anyway this museum serves as the mid-south major science and historical place in the US for decades and decades. Featuring the exhibits ranging from archeology to chemistry.

But the mansion has its own history behind it! And it intrigues me. The place is so massive like your jaw will drop when you see it in your own eyes and you will say who ever built this place is freaking genius!

The story behind of The PINK PALACE:

In May 1922, grocery store magnate Clarence Saunders announced to the press with his typical flair and fanfare, that he would build a palatial estate on the eastern fringe of Memphis, Tennessee. The forty-one-year-old Saunders, founder of the Piggly Wiggly grocery chain and at the summit of his fortune, began building what would become one of Memphis’ most enduring landmarks, the Pink Palace Museum.

How that dream home became the Memphis Pink Palace Museum, headquarters for the Pink Palace Family of Museums, is one of Memphis’ more interesting stories. Memphians were fascinated by the estate under construction, taking Sunday drives on Central Avenue just to get a glimpse. Saunders named his 36,500 square-foot house, faced with pink Georgia marble “Cla-Le-Clare” after his three children, but Memphians nicknamed it the “Pink Palace.” The home was to feature a massive entry lobby with a pipe organ, a ballroom, indoor swimming pool, a shooting gallery, a bowling alley and eight bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom. Sadly, the Saunders family never lived in the Mansion. In 1923, Saunders lost his fortune in an epic battle with the New York Stock Exchange, and the unfinished house fell into the hands of his creditors.

The company that acquired the property donated the Mansion to the City of Memphis for use as a museum. The city spent $150,000 to complete the building and landscape the grounds. The impressive lobby was finished with marble floors, walls and stairs, and a marble fireplace bearing the city’s seal was installed in an adjacent room, which would have been Saunders’ living room.

The Mansion opened as the Memphis Museum of Natural History and Industrial Arts in March 1930. The Museum’s focus was regional and natural history, education and industrial arts. Many artifacts from the Cossitt Library collection were moved to the Museum, including the Rainey collection of trophy animal heads. Although the Museum had a regional focus, decorative objects and artifacts from around the world were occasionally acquired, such as the Boshart collection of over 500 birds in 1931, a mastodon jawbone in 1936 and the unforgettable shrunken head of an Ecuadorian Indian in 1939. Burton Callicott was commissioned by the WPA in 1934 to paint three murals depicting Hernando Desoto discovering the Mississippi River. The murals were hung on the north wall of the lobby. The Museum added a planetarium, Berry B. Brooks African Hall and elaborate mineral exhibits in the 1950s. The Clyde Parke Miniature Circus was added in later years.

After years of resisting its nickname, the facility formally became the Memphis Pink Palace Museum in 1967. An expansion project, completed in 1977, saw the Museum’s exhibits moved to a new and larger building adjacent to the Mansion. Memphis history exhibits are in ten restored rooms on the Mansion ground floor focusing on Memphis history from 1900–1960.

Clarence Saunders never slept in his “pink palace.” When he began its construction, he said he would build a landmark that “will stand a thousand years.” Saunders’ loss is the world’s gain. The Pink Palace Mansion feels the footsteps, hears the excited voices and senses the curious stares of visitors within its pink marble walls. The Pink Palace Museum has become an awe-inspiring world of discovery, attracting visitors from around the globe. The Pink Palace Museum celebrated its 75th Anniversary in 2005. Clarence Saunders would be proud.

Calling home

Been living here in the States for almost 6 years already, and believe me, I called home just a few times only. Don't get me wrong, I can't last a day without knowing what's going on back home, but we do it through the Internet, we chat. The reason is, the Internet is way too cheaper compared to phone bills. Call times are also limited, with a static signal sometimes, and not to mention, those calling cards are sometimes hard to find too. But still, hearing the voices of our loved ones is priceless, nothing beats a nice and sweet conversation right? So when I heard about PureMinutes, got interested right away.

It's a mobile long distance service which made international calls easier than ever. It has no hidden fees, minutes never expire, no tricks, no contracts, pay for just pure minutes. How so? By registering your phone number online, then record the access number on your phone, dial that number, and then start making international calls. I still dunno a lot about this service but pretty interesting. If their rates are really lower compare to others, might give it a try. How about you? Well, just visit the website and like me, learn more about it.

On sports apparel

I admire those people who are into sports, or just getting active in general. Growing up, I was such a wimp and clumsy kid who was never involved in sports or whatever extra curricular activities at school aside from physical education of course. Which sport you're particularly into? I like to watch racing actually. Those super cool riders wearing their tourmaster jackets looks so manly. I guess my interest in racing came from the frustration of not being able to drive. Yes, I don't know how until now, poor me! LOL! Anyway, in case you're wondering where to grab those gears for sports riders, touring riders and things such, just visit CompAcc, an online shop where you can find it all.

If you can read this you have a strong mind:

Just thinking

My mom's friend just came from Australia, just several months ago if am not mistaken. It was not for a very good reason though. Remember the earthquake that hit New Zealand earlier this year, mom's friend has a son and he was one of the victims. Too bad for his family, they weren't able to see his body, for he was one of the missing individuals. So the mother went to Australia and took care of everything. The government of course was the one who helped them with all the necessities. As what we know, they were offered to stay in one of those short stay apartments but since they also have relatives there, they preferred to be with them. It's good because at least they were given good accommodation in Melbourne. The government paid for those Melbourne apartments and gave them proper compensation too for the losses. It's part of the insurance I guess.

Anyway, I can't imagine how difficult such a time was for them. The fact that he went there just to work and look what happened! But that's life, he was a victim unforeseen occurrences. Mom said her friend is someone very tough. A mother whose gone through a lot. Just wish them all the best and may they be alright.

One of the world's best trekking journey

Doing you enjoy trekking, walking through an unfamiliar road and just anticipating where it will lead you? Trekking I guess would be one of the most exciting and bold experience one can experience. Spending days and nights in the woods, laying your head when you reach the night, and camping, that's sure fun like no other. One of the best hiking journey on the planet is the Inca Trail at Machu Picchu in Peru. Such treks will take you to higher altitudes, literally! To archeological sites, wonders of nature, wildlife viewing, and so much more. Inca trail tours are available for anyone who wants to visit, explore and discover this ancient, beautiful city. Some of Inca's magnificent ruins are the Sun Gate, Temple of the Sun, Temple of the Three Windows, and of course the Main Temple. I can't imagine how beautiful at the same time nerve-wrecking experience it would be walking around the ruins and climbing those steeps. Will be dead-tired I guess but definitely worth it.

Do you see yourself going for a trek? You should be very happy if you can. It's one of those beautiful things in life, to get to discover new paths and roads. To see what's beyond the mountains and have the best view of what our planet earth has to offer.

Where are we going?

A constant question in a traveler's mind. Where would be their next destination? What's a good place to visit? Well while browsing some travel sites I saw a picture of a beautiful place far away. Thought a place as lovely as that exist only in movies or in fantasies. The view is breathe-taking, with a dramatic landscape. It's where plains, mountains, glaciers, and islands meet. I'm talking about Chilean Patagonia, Chile's most popular region. This is truly one of planet earth's most beautiful spot! No wonder, though it's quite far away, thousands of tourist and adventure seekers flight there annually. Would you like to experience some Chile Patagonia tours? You can do so by visiting Navimag Ferries website and book for a tour. Be on-board their ferries as they take you around Patagonia. One of their routes is the Pio XI, which will take you to South America's biggest glacier. That would be so cool isn't it?

There are so many places yet to visit. If we can only travel around the world right? If you can, enjoy and be thankful for the opportunity. But even if we can't hop by there for now, it doesn't stop as from admiring those beauty. Thankfully, pictures are all over the place, we can see them in just clicks away.

Oh Flowers!

Flowers, one of the prettiest thing in the world. I just love them, have a garden plot blooming with flowers. They are the constant subject in my photography for I just adore their beauty. Flowers are so refreshing, it brightens the mood of anyone who'll see it. And of course flowers are symbols of love given to our dearly beloveds. Speaking of, last week, the brother-in-law ordered flowers, I guess here at floristexpress online for his fiance. It's a 1 dozen red roses with a sweet message in a card. Truly a romantic gesture, I bet his fiance was in cloud 9 that time, lol! Anyway, I'm browsing the website now and I just love this Roses 'n Rapture bouquet. It's so dramatic and so red, gorgeous indeed!
